Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment
Dance Your Ability is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and accessible experience for everyone. We believe all people should be able to access our programs, services, training, and information with dignity, independence, and respect.
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. We continually work to identify, remove, and prevent barriers while improving the accessibility of our website, communications, and programs.
Our Accessibility Goals
Dance Your Ability is working to:
Improve the accessibility of our website and online services.
Create documents and digital resources that are compatible with assistive technologies.
Use plain language and accessible formatting wherever possible.
Provide captions for videos and alternative text for meaningful images.
Improve colour contrast, navigation, and readability across our digital content.
Train team members in accessible communication and inclusive practices.
Review and improve accessibility as standards and technology evolve.
Accessibility Standards
Dance Your Ability strives to align its digital communications with the principles of the Accessible British Columbia Act and the Accessible Canada Act. Where practical, we work toward meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility.
To support these efforts, we use accessibility tools such as:
Adobe Acrobat Pro Accessibility Checker
Microsoft Accessibility Checker
WebAIM Colour Contrast Checker
WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool
Screen reader testing using VoiceOver and NVDA
Accessibility testing is ongoing, and improvements are made as barriers are identified.
Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is not a one-time project. We regularly review our website, communications, and digital resources to identify opportunities for improvement and to respond to changes in technology, accessibility standards, and community needs.
Feedback
We welcome feedback about the accessibility of the Dance Your Ability website, programs, and communications.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier or require information in an alternative format, please contact us. Your feedback helps us improve accessibility for everyone.
